AP6511 Mounting Bracket
thingiverse
The AP6511 is a vintage wireless access point (AP) that was originally manufactured by Symbol as part of its WiNG product line. Over time, the ownership of this AP has changed hands several times, passing from Motorola to Zebra and most recently Extreme Networks. This AP has been licensed for use in various products by other manufacturers, and it's considered one of the first true hospitality-class wireless access points. This particular AP only supports networks up to 802.11n standards and is equipped with a single 2.4Ghz radio, lacking the 5Ghz frequency altogether. As a result, its popularity has declined rapidly. Nevertheless, there are still many existing deployments that utilize this AP at present. The model I designed is an easily printable replacement mounting bracket for the AP6511. This is my second attempt at creating such a bracket, and it differs significantly from the first one. While the initial design closely matched the original, the small tabs used to secure the AP proved to be too weak. In contrast, this newer version wraps around the top and bottom of the AP, providing much greater strength while still maintaining an attractive appearance. Note that the screw holes in this bracket are created using a .3mm thick punchout. I've found it beneficial to add a couple of layers of material before printing the screw holes, as my printer performs better under these conditions. The resulting holes should fit comfortably over a standard single-gang wall box. ### Dimensions 131mm x 67mm x 13mm
