Established in 1959, the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS), Japan - a non-profit organization - was founded with the support of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, now known as METI. AOTS serves to advance international economic cooperation, foster mutual economic development, and strengthen friendly ties between Japan and developing nations. It does so as the first private technical cooperation entity in Japan.
