The idea with the canopy is that it should provide some protection for the camera, while being light and compatible with the general bolt layout of the AOS T3. Also as I have suffered from pretty bad RC link quality on the donor quad I wanted to move away from the frame, since antennas and close proximity of carbon is not a good combination. While optimizing the RC link I could then think of moving the VTX antenna as far from the props as possible and providing even a turtle fin in form of the antenna masts. As a bonus I could even fix the low ESR capacitor on one of the masts, as you may notice the "bulge" on the right-hand side mast.
