Anysize Technic Strut
thingiverse
It's getting close to Christmas, so thoughts turn to LEGO. I thought I'd revive an old project and share it with you. These custom-size links/struts/triangles are compatible with Lego Technic connectors. You can use them to build custom linkages. I've included the Jansen Leg linkage dimensions with the intention of printing a walker. You can annotate the ends of the links with letters, which really helps with construction. Be aware that the settings on the slicer are crucial for getting the connectors to fit; I recommend a few test prints before attempting anything big. For an easy start, I suggest editing the Jansen Leg file. It's worth noting that the points of the triangle go A->B->C clockwise. l1 is A->C, l2 is A->B, and l3 is B->C. If you want to dig deeper, try decoding Lego_beams.scad. I took a look; although I wrote it only three and a half years ago, it was somewhat cryptic. But in the spirit of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," I've left it alone for now. BlockLetters.scad contains letters that can be cut out (no inner shapes). rodsandholes.scad has the code for corrected shapes for building rods and cutting out holes.
