Anycubic Predator Effector mod / Extruder mount
thingiverse
Since I'm revamping my entire 3D printing setup, I needed a crucial component: a plate between the extruder and print head. The attached image shows the extruder hanging low over the print head without putting weight on it, but it's no longer swinging wildly due to added rubber bands that absorb vibrations, which are then transmitted to the chassis. This sits on rubber balls in a specialized fitting, resulting in remarkably effective dampening. I also disassembled the print head and adjusted its position by moving a metal plate up to prevent heat from cooling down the head. Additionally, I wrapped copper wire around the coldend for enhanced heat transfer and shortened the pipe that feeds into it, allowing me to lower the extruder closer to the printhead. Further upgrades include adding TL smoothers. Prior to these modifications, successful prints were rare due to numerous heat-related issues and clogged nozzles. However, with these changes in place, even 0.2mm layer thicknesses produce smooth, high-quality prints, and ghosting on test cubes has significantly decreased (see attached images). To further reduce rattling, the new plate will be printed in TPU material, allowing me to secure it to the existing plate while maintaining the springs for added stability without adding extra weight to the head. One side of the plate features bumpers to absorb shocks, while the other includes M6x1 threaded inserts for versatile extruder mounting options.
