First at all - this is a very complex modification and the costs are ca. 50% of a complete new 300mmx300mm decent printer (Anycubic MegaX, Creality CR10 family, Anet 8 etc. Only if you have a very good reason for such a modification makes sense to consider it. As example: I have already two Ai3Ms, I need a larger 3D printer, but a third 3d printer would have been just too much for my hobby activities. This mod turns the Anycubic I3 Mega into a large volume printer (310mm x 310mm x 400mm) - a substantial +400% printing volume increase versus the original design (210mm x 210mm x 205mm). The total costs for the mod should be in the range of +150$ or equivalent - 300mm+ hotbed, 3m Al profile 2040, three sets of longer rods Ø8 (2 x 500mm + 1 x 450mm), a set of longer driveshafts M8x2 (500mm), longer belts, connecting standard parts. A detailed BoM will be eventually provided. I have designed the mod to be used with the Creality 310 x 310 hotbed; Anet 300 x 300 12V hotbed or etc. can be alternative solutions. The mod can use any X-axis gantry design solution - including the original Anycubic design solution. Only the rods used for the X-axis have to be 85mm longer as the ones in use - e.g. for the FoX 45mm gantry system shown in pictures I had to use 450mm rods (originally 365mm rods) The additional models for the Y rails + hotbed installation can be found in a separate project. I have also two different X gantry systems, each of them can be used with this upgrade. The X carriage would depend of what gantry system is used (45mm or 50mm). The Ai3m electrical installation does not need any change, except the easy extension of the hotend cables up to the new RHS position of the PCB (usually the heating cartridge and the hotend thermistor are sold with very long cables). Firmware - minor modifications are required for a complete functionality - the hotbed (new) size(s) and new printing height need to be updated.
