Let's Eliminate This Unsightly Stepper Motor Driver Fan Once and For All! Tired of hearing the annoying whine of inexpensive fan stepper drivers? I was too, so I decided to tackle my trusty SolidWorks software to solve the problem once and for all. No matter if you're using a stock stepper motor driver or an upgrade like 5 TMC 2208 Drivers (one of the best improvements you can make for this noisy printer, and it's budget-friendly!), the dimensions are the same. Here's a universal guide for fixing any type of fan: Fix the air guide to the PCB with 2 screws (4x) M3x12. Whether you're using the original Anycubic stepper motor fan or opting for an effective but pricey Noctua 50x10 or 50x20, just choose the right fan adapter. I suggest this 40x40 Noctua Fan – it's like a Rolls-Royce! Or, if budget is a concern, go for the Sunon MagLev fan – it's quiet and from a great brand. I didn't glue anything together or attach the air duct; instead, I simply used 2 x M3x12mm screws to fix it onto my Gorilla PCB holder. Then, I inserted the assembly with the right fan mounted in. The result? A whopping 7db decrease in noise! The hot air is efficiently expelled from inside the case to the outside, which benefits the cooling of the power supply and reduces its load. The airflow also cools the heatsink on top of the stepper motor controllers and the chips on the bottom side. I'm even thinking of adding a series resistance with the fan to make it run slower and quieter, as the expelled air is still cold. P.S. Share your print!
