Anycubic i3 Mega / i3 Mega S - Z-Axis Improvement ______________________________________________________________________ The Z-axis of the Anycubic i3 Mega is prone to vibrations, and here's a small solution. The following advantages result: - 4 mounting points (bearings) instead of just 2, which significantly reduces vibrations - reduced ghosting (at my speed of 50mm/s on the walls, ghosting has completely disappeared) - visibly more precise and cleaner print Disadvantage: - requires some hand skills The following should also be installed: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3904836 In addition to the installation, the following items are required: - 2 x 410mm precision rod 8mm h6 (harden steel or preferably 46CR13 stainless steel) - 1 x M5 car body washer - 1 x M5 nut - 1 x 20mm M5 screw - 4 x LM8UU ball bearings Installation: 1. The two printed Z guides must be equipped with each of the 2 LM8UU bearings. The mounts are designed for a simple installation of the bearings and are 0.3 mm larger. If the bearings do not sit tightly, they can also be attached with adhesive. (Optional: Anyone who wants to give their Any something special should replace the 8mm linear rods with ball bearings with Sinterbronze bearings. This requires replacing the 4 rod holders as well.) 2. Mount all original parts and new linear rods at the Z guides. A rod fixing is inserted from below, and a second one is installed from inside (see pictures below). 3. The pulley for the X belt is secured with an M5 nut and a 20mm M5 screw. An additional stiffening is achieved by installing an M5 car body washer. 4. Now everything is ready for installation and subsequent re-adjustment.
