Anycubic i3 Mega /i3 Mega S - Small V6 Hotend and Filament Cooler To reduce the noise, ineffectiveness, and size of the i3 Mega or i3-Mega S hotend cooler, a simple solution is presented. The benefits of this cooling variant are as follows: - A single low-speed fan (airflow) is required, which reduces noise by four times in my case (40dB -> 20dB/Original fan -> Sunon MF40101V2-1000U-A99) - Temperature is directly reduced from >60°C to <40°C at the Heatbreak (Throat), despite lower noise and airflow - More uniform pressure temperature, as the heat block is no longer cooled - Faster heating - Lighter than the original hotend - More space between hotend and printer frame (top) - Uniform hotend temperature (+/- 0.1 °C) The hotend cooler is available with and without a wing (green component in drawing 1 below). With the wing, noise reduction occurs as the air is less turbulent. For installation, the following items are required: - Printed heat sink cooler (Infill 20%; 0.3mm; no supports needed) - Printed filament cooler with or without additional wing for different fans (Infill 10%; 0.3mm; no supports needed) - 6 x M3 screw nuts - 2 x M3 long screws from the old hotend Installation: 1. The printed cooler must be equipped with 6 screw nuts (M3). 2. Insert the heat sink and secure it with a screw. 3. Original mounting for the hotend must be changed (see image "Backplate" below). 4. Secure the hotend to the modified printer mount. 5. Install the filament cooler. 6. Connect everything and attach the electronics cover. 7. Done!
