Anycubic I3 Mega filament sensor holder for straight feed
thingiverse
I use a custom "stiffy" filament sensor holder to feed the filament straight from below. My spool is positioned below the printer on a stack of IKEA "Lack" tables. See images for clearance at minimum Z height; there's still about 2mm to the base, but that's okay because I've included an STL file that's 5mm shorter to accommodate the setup. To tidy up the area, I also included a small bracket to pull the cable of the right Z-axis motor and end stop closer to the printer. Simply attach it to the rear bottom screw where the Z frame meets the printer's base with a zip tie loop. The filament passthrough for the table is actually a separate design by sspierings, which can be found on Thingiverse at this link: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2114888 Updates: 2019-03-06 08:00 MEZ: I've made some tweaks to the cable holder, making it about a few mm longer. The sensor holders have also been beefed up for added stability.
