This is the key filament tube that connects the filament feeder to the magnetic filament sensor. Typically, if the sensor is quite rigid and the filament spool sits very close to the printer, the filament will not pass through without significant force exerted upon it. This leads to clicking sounds emanating from the magnetic lock of the sensor and sometimes even causes the sensor to become completely disengaged from its magnetic attachment and drift perilously close to the feeder - a situation that is by no means desirable. The filament tube provides an effective solution to this issue. It's essential to install the pipe as shown in the accompanying image.
