Anycubic i3 Mega - Dial indicator mounting bracket
thingiverse
Yet another dial indicator mount for the i3 Mega. The bracket snaps onto the linear rails, securing the dial indicator in place with a 1/4" bolt that fits snugly through its hole. A smooth shoulder on the bolt before the threads start ensures a secure fit. **Usage instructions:** - Seat the dial indicator into the mounting bracket and fasten it with a 1/4" bolt. - To level the bed correctly, follow these steps: 1) Preheat the bed and hotend to the temperature you'll be using for printing. 2) Ensure the nozzle is clear of oozing plastic before proceeding. 3) Home X,Y,Z to establish a reference point. 4) Move the bed down slightly to prevent scratching when leveling. 5) Position the hotend about 1" from the home position in both X and Y axes, avoiding the edge of the buildplate. 6) Slowly raise the bed until the nozzle just touches the surface using the corner dials. Then move on to the next step. 7) Use machine controls to raise the hotend 10mm in Z axis and move it along X axis to mid-point. Now you can mount the dial indicator beside the hotend, sweeping back and forth in Y axis to read corners. Remember to stay about 1" from the bed's side when taking readings. 8) Begin dial readings from where you first touched off the nozzle, designating this as your zero point. Check other corners and adjust until all are at zero. 9) You can re-home after adjustments and be ready for printing. When leveling, the nozzle should be level with the bed, not 0.2mm above it. This ensures accurate G-code execution during printing. If you've leveled with paper or another material, you may already be introducing extra space between the nozzle and bed. The G-code will move the hotend to 0.2mm above the home position, which can result in a total height of 0.4mm if you're already set at 0.15-0.2mm. I initially struggled with leveling until I understood that using paper is an ineffective method. It's crucial to level your bed so that the nozzle is at the same height as the bed, not above it. This way, the G-code can move the hotend to its intended position without introducing extra space. ***Warning: Improper use may cause damage; be cautious.***
