AnyCubic i3 Mega Clip-On Box
thingiverse
This design draws inspiration from another equipment box for the Anycubic i3 Mega on Thingiverse, but I've created it entirely from scratch with several notable design differences. 1. The entire thing clips together seamlessly and then securely attaches to the printer without requiring any glue or special tools, which is my main objective. 2. The width of the box is precisely a quarter of the available space on top of the printer, allowing you to print up to three more boxes if needed, and they will fit perfectly without leaving any wasted space (though untested). 3. The front of the bottom of the box features a flat surface instead of an angled one, providing additional room in that direction. 4. This design is also more visually appealing, with optional Anycubic logo availability - I've included models with and without logos. Assembly Instructions: * Print the box and two clips * Insert the bowtie-shaped post on the clip into the corresponding hole on the box, then rotate until the push-clip lines up with the hole * Gently push the push-clip into the hole, applying even force from both sides near the clip. It may require a bit of effort. * Repeat for the other side * Attach the back hook to each clip around the top frame at the rear, then press down on the front of the box/top of the clip. As you do this, you'll likely need to assist the clip around the front of the top frame by squeezing it near the bottom. UPDATE May 19, 2020: I've completed a redesign of this box, which I believe looks cleaner and more refined. To ensure its functionality without printing the entire thing, I sliced small sections out of it and printed test pieces to verify that the clips fit properly, etc. However, I haven't printed the complete design because I don't need another box myself. I normally refrain from uploading designs I haven't fully tested in person. The old parts remain for your convenience, and I've marked the new ones as "new untested." If you decide to take a chance on the newer design, I'd appreciate any feedback you might have on its performance. UPDATE Sep 20, 2020: After receiving confirmation that my redesign works as well as the original, and considering it looks better, I've removed the old design. The white box in the photos is the new version (no logo). ***WARNING*** : When using this design or any similar clip-on top-of-printer accessories, be cautious if you're printing very tall objects. It's possible for wires or the bowden tube to collide with the bottom of the clips or get caught on something.
