AnyBox Filament Storage
cults3d
I needed a dry place to store my filament, and had tons of storage boxes I could use, so instead of building something new for a specific box I decided to make something that can be used with any storage box. It simply consists of two screws that loosely fit inside a 3/4" PVC pipe that's cut to whatever length you need. One is left-hand thread and one is right-hand thread so they don't back out during use. Included is also a spacer that can be put on the pipe to keep the spools from wandering. It has holes for m5 screws in case you want to screw it in to place. To install, drill an 18mm (11/16") hole in the side of your box where you want the pipe to go. (See note in the images). Place the pipe inside the box and turn the screw from the outside in. The screw will sit loosely inside the PVC pipe, allowing it to turn. If you use a bigger hole, that's okay. Being able to thread it through the side of your box isn't critical for functionality. If the screws back out with use, switch which side they're on. To change filament, simply unscrew both sides and pull the PVC pipe out. If you upgrade to a bigger box later, they can go with it! Please share any makes or improvements you'd like to see! This is my first Thing and I made it intentionally simple.
