The Antonov An-71, also known as Madcap by NATO, was a proposed Soviet Air Force aircraft designed for Fighter Bomber forces. It was based on the An-72 with a redesigned rear fuselage to accommodate its radar rotodome atop a forward-swept fin. The aircraft's cargo hold contained electronic equipment and six operator stations. However, development ceased after only one prototype flew in 1985 due to unresolved issues with the Vega-M Kvant radar, and the program ended following the Soviet Union's collapse. In 2010, a single An-71 was moved to Ukraine State Aviation Museum for restoration and display purposes.
