Antiquing Sleeve

Antiquing Sleeve

This is a "sleeve" to put into a standard stove top pot for antiquing gun parts. I do have one of those strainer type of pots but it's WAYYYYY too big. So, for a smaller pot, I designed and printed one of these. Resize / remix per the inner diameter of the pot you're going to use. Print in its current orientation and use tree supports. How to antique brass gun parts (I do NOT use heat): 1. fill the bottom of the pot with basic distilled white vinegar - do NOT let the vinegar touch the bottom of the 3d printed sleeve; keep a few mm just below it; do NOT let the vinegar touch the parts, either! 2. add about 1 tablespoon of salt. Mix thoroughly with the vinegar. 3. wipe all brass parts down with isopropyl alcohol and place into bottom of sleeve. 4. cover the pot with plastic wrap. The vinegar / salt mixture "fumes" do their thing in about 4-8 hours. Keep your parts in longer if you want them darker. Turn parts every 30 minutes or so. When finished, remove the parts and wipe them down with WD-40.
