Antenna Insulator
thingiverse
This design was inspired by a 3D-printed insulator I saw showcased on the blog of fellow amateur Matt Carr, KM4NMP. He didn't release the design files, so I decided to revisit my somewhat rusty OpenSCAD skills and try to create a remix of Matt's insulator from scratch. The most challenging part for me was determining an effective way to make a hole with rounded interior edges. The method I discovered should prove useful in future projects. I sliced and printed this in PLA with 0.2 layer thickness and 15% infill. For very long runs or very heavy wire, you may need to increase these parameters for greater strength. The insulator proportions are fixed, but the overall length and hole size are customizable.
