Ant's nest

This is an ant's nest The purpose of this design was to create a fully printed 3D nest that could be: Easy to assemble Easy to dismantle Easy to wash And scalable The humidifier is done by capillary action in a water supply under the nest. When the water supply is empty, the float goes down and tells you it's time to fill the supply. The assembly is done simply by fitting together and using 4 screws to print in 3D. The opening of the storage room is large enough to be washed easily when there is scale inside. It will then be necessary to move the ant colony to another ant farm, then dismantle it, and wash it with vinegar. Another solution is to use only distilled water. You can see the meaning of the impressions on the photos. There's also a short video to illustrate the montage. In the files, you'll find several versions of the "BODY" part. You must choose the version that corresponds to the thickness of your glass (100 x 100 x 0.5 x 0.5 to 5 mm). As far as I'm concerned, I took a 5 mm thick plexiglass plate. I recommend using a plate of 1 or 2 mm instead; it's much easier to cut with a simple cutter. Simply scratch the plexiglas on both sides and then break it with a sharp blow at the edge of a table. You can also recycle the box of a CD. A little tip: cover your Plexiglas with masking tape so as not to damage it during cutting. I left the STL of the window in the "GLASS (FOR TEMPLATE).stl" files. It may be useful as a template to draw your cutout. Think about the adjustments; remove about 1 mm on each side. For printing the "BODY," I advise you to use thin layers of 0.1 mm and a high enough temperature, to avoid any risk of leakage. For printing the "FLOAT": -No filling -walls 0.4 -ceilings 0.4 -0.1 layer thickness There will be a small 0.4 mm horizontal support to be cut with a cutter on the top side. This is the entrance for the wick that will come into contact with the water. For connection to the hunting area, a hole of 11 mm in diameter must be made. The hose to be used has an outside diameter of 8.5 mm. If your pipe is a little larger you can adjust it by simply heating it slightly and forcing it into the hole. For safety, it's necessary to apply a little glue or silicone before assembly. https://youtu.be/6odgLmr1M6g
