Ant-Resistant Oil Brush Chalice

Ant-Resistant Oil Brush Chalice

I find it useful to keep a teacup of olive oil and a silicon brush handy near my stove. I can quickly brush a little oil onto pans to prevent sticking, on my ironware for seasoning after cleaning, or on bread as an alternative to butter. The possibilities are endless! Unfortunately, a swarm of almost-microscopic kamikaze ants discovered my cup o' oil. While I'm not opposed to sharing, many drowned themselves in the oil, spoiling its vegetarian nature. I'm going to try replacing the teacup with this ant-resistant chalice. A bowl in the bottom holds a little bit of water (or mineral oil) to discourage the ants from raiding the delicious olive oil above. Two important notes: this should be printed using food-safe PLA and/or coated with a food-safe lacquer. Although basic PLA isn't toxic, there's no guarantee that toxic dyes and colorings haven't been added to that spool you bought for cheap from Joe's House o' Filament. Second, I've yet to see how PLA holds up to long-term exposure to oil and water. I'll update this when the piece has been in service a while. _Edit: I encountered some problems with the model leaking, but that seems to be related to my having set a rather large layer height in my slicer. So far, with a layer height of 0.1mm it's working much better._
