Ant Farm for small colonies
thingiverse
Some days ago I created a miniature Ant habitat for small colonies. I utilized a "glass tube" sourced from a German store called "Depot." The outer diameter of this glass tube measures 39.5 mm and its inner diameter is approximately 38 mm. Unfortunately, the tube isn't perfectly round, which necessitated some adjustments to my design settings. If you're looking for something similar, I hope you'll be able to find a suitable alternative. After printing, I secured the glass tube to the PLA part using a small amount of aquarium silicone. The back of the design features a water reservoir that allows water to flow into the interior of the habitat through its bottom. To create a comfortable environment for my ants, I filled the inside of the reservoir and the habitat with cotton, then glued a piece of mosquito netting across the water channels to prevent any accidental escapes. On the inside cover, I added small holes to facilitate the insertion of plastic plants. Initially, I had planned to use a small ring to store honey, but ultimately decided on bottle lids instead. Unfortunately, my Lasius niger queen has since passed away, which means I'm currently not utilizing the habitat.
