Ant Bait Container
thingiverse
Holds a solution of water, sugar, and boric acid in a contained reservoir designed to rest snugly against a baseboard, thereby staying out of the way. Its sloping sides ingeniously encourage ants to climb up towards the receptacle, where they're eagerly awaited. At 100% scale, this miniature trap measures approximately 2" long, necessitating daily refills with its specially concocted solution. The tried-and-true standard formula involves mixing 1 cup of water with a precise amount of 8 teaspoons of sugar and 1 tsp of boric acid - a winning combination that's effectively proven to eliminate unwanted pests. As ants devour the sweet mixture, they return to their colonies to unleash a poisonous payload upon their unsuspecting comrades. Update: May 2018 saw the arrival of our kitchen's first ant invasion for the year, prompting us to strategically place four of these ingenious traps along either side of our back door. Within a span of 24 hours, approximately 100 or more dead ants had accumulated outside our home, bringing an end to the invasive forces. This triumphant outcome solidified the effectiveness of these clever contraptions. An extended version boasting a sturdy handle allows for easier lifting and transport of the trap once it's fallen to the floor. For maximum visibility, we suggest printing these traps in crisp white. Printing four at once provides you with a comprehensive set - ideal for deploying an effective ant defense system.
