The original CV-33 was crewed by two men who were safeguarded behind welded armor plates that stood 12 mm thick and was equipped with a 6.5 mm machine gun. The CV-33 II model featured an upgraded armament consisting of two 8 mm machine guns. Between 1935 and 1937, several CV-33 vehicles underwent modifications to meet the standards set by the CV-35 design. In 1938, the CV-33 was redesignated as "L3/33," while the CV-35 retained its original designation of "L3/35." The Italian military deployed the CV-33 during the Spanish Civil War.
