Another RC Car Drive Shaft
prusaprinters
My 2 previous designs didn't work well when trying to compensate suspension and steering, as a matter of fact they are only suitable to compensate slight misalignment for normally aligned shafts. So I will only use them between the gearbox and the 2 differentials. With this new design I now have something to link the differentials to the wheels. For each universal joint I'm using one 16 mm and two 6 mm M3 screws. The size of the joints is quite big but that's ok as my rc car design is quite big itself ! I believe I could scale it down but then I would need to use small plastic pins or M2 screws…The reason the yokes are slimmer in the middle is twofold: they look nicer and this avoids some interference with the shock absorbers when steering. There is a sliding part that allows for some travel when suspension or steering are needing it.My naming is somehow random as usual:So for one drive shaft you need 2 dices, 3 yokes and one sliding yoke and one shaft + screws.I've since released the car !
