Another Jyn Erso Baton

This is not so much a remix, but rather a starting point that I drew inspiration from ant82's remix. This model is significantly larger and assembles in a completely different manner. It also utilizes a spring-loaded shuttle to hold the shaft in both extended and collapsed positions. Assembled, this unit measures 337.86mm before it is fully extended. The longest single part is the Upper Body, which stands at an impressive 195mm long. For those interested in making adjustments, I have created a TinkerCAD model that can be accessed here: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/71kvCYmMxr5 My primary design goals were: - Minimal non-printed hardware - Printing all parts vertically with limited supports - Ease of assembly and minimal glue usage - The ability to stay open or closed regardless of movement (within reason) - A multi-material handle, eliminating the need for painting if using a MMU or Palette Required Hardware Includes: - 1 x 300mm long, 20mm OD, 15mm ID tube - [example](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YCH11G9/) - 1 x 20mm M5.08 socket head screw - [example](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082W2XWV1/) - 1 x M5 nut - [example](https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Hex-Nut-Pack-50/dp/B07BKTBZYM/) - 1 x 7/32" x 11/16" compression spring - 1 drop of thread locker Printing Notes: - Print two copies of Nipple - These notes are based on printing with a Prusa MK3S. Your mileage may vary. - Use a support enforcer to add internal support for the first 40-45mm of the Upper Body and Lower Body, specifically where the ID reduces. - For the Center support, use it from the build plate only. Assembly Instructions: - Dry fit everything first and make any necessary adjustments. - Smooth the interior and exterior edges on the ends so they are smooth. - Add glue inside the End Cap and insert one end of the tube. - Assemble the Shuttle - Turn the Shuttle Body upside down (bottom hole up) - Orient and insert Nipples so they stick out the sides. - Compress and insert the spring between the nipples. - Add a small bit of glue on each side of the spring and insert the Shuttle Plug to close off the bottom of the Shuttle. - Add glue and insert the shuttle into the other end of the tube. - **NOTE:** Alignment is key for the knurls on the End Cap to match up to the knurls on the Lower Body when the baton is collapsed. - Add glue and insert Center into Lower Body. - Add glue and insert Center into Upper Body. - Insert nut into hex hole on the hinge bracket on Center. - Insert the Handle into the hinge bracket on Center. - Insert bolt through hinge bracket and Handle and tighten into nut. - Compress the Nipples in the Shuttle and insert the tube into the Lower Body. - Rotate the tube until the Nipples extend into the internal track. Warnings: - Don't hit people with it, as it's likely to break. - It's a prop and not designed for real-world use. - Don't open the baton by swinging it, as the nipples in the shuttle may not hold well. Note: I haven't run a print of "Handle - Single", but it should work fine. My Print Information: - Prusa MK3S + MMU2s - PushPlastic Silver @0.1mm for the Shuttle parts and Center - PushPlastic Silver & Black @0.15mm for the Handle as a single MMU print - Amazon/Overture PETG for the Body pieces and end cap - The "Upper Body" and "Center" were the only parts to use supports - For the body, I used a support enforcer for the first 40mm on the inside of the housing. - For the center, I printed it vertically and supported from the build plate only.
