Another Inexpensive/Budget CNC Plasma Table
grabcad
Real-world build currently under construction. Another (larger work envelope with fewer/smaller/cheaper parts and fasteners) simple and inexpensive CNC plasma table. Note: Some photos show random spacers, fasteners, motors, and non-final components used during test fit. RM2-2RS bearings in v-grooves on phenolic resin rails. Linear rails and bearings for Z and Z switch. Easy cuts, bends, and welds. X and Y NEMA 23 269 oz. steppers with quality 3/8 in. XL belts, pulleys, and Openbuilds style idlers. NEMA 17 with integrated T8 lead for Z. Inductive sensors for X, Y, Z, A (homing), and Z switch. No 3D printed parts except decorative end caps for 2x2 in. tube. Three tooling holes in rails (for use while milling v-grooves) can be omitted if they are machined individually.Z linear motion accuracy (cutting height) depends on torch height controller - so any random stepper/lead/nut can be used. Low cost ($30 Amazon) NEMA 17 assembly (intended for low end 3D printers) and it's included sloppy brass nut produces same cut results (with less friction) as stepper driving precision ACME lead with an anti-backlash nut. Plasma cutting voltage feedback causes Z to operate in a very accurate and responsive closed loop. Ohmic sensing with Z switch backup will be used to locate top of material.Parts and material on order while cutting, bending, and painting steel parts as time allows. Modifying some parts to simplify/reduce bends.Parasolid binary is CAD export. F3D, IGES, and STEP are conversions via. F360 export. Large files - all components and fasteners are internal. Any part numbers for fasteners are McMaster. Idler pulleys are OpenBuilds smooth idler style with 688 bearings and shim. Nylock nuts will be used everywhere.SC Plasma 023
