I've found a spool holder that's been working out great; swapping materials is a breeze, unwinding is effortless and I can use a wide range of spool sizes with ease. The bearings I'm using come from eBay - they're 22x8x7mm - and some plastic washers might do the trick as well. Everything is printed in PLA. Don't forget to mirror that long piece!
