Another Action Figure
thingiverse
I wanted to try my hand at building a posable action figure for myself, and this is what I came up with. The figure can be assembled without any need for glue or fasteners, and it has 14 points of articulation where different parts come together. My intention was to make the hands roughly the same size so they could hold takeout chopsticks - but it's an arbitrary choice. As time goes on, I'll keep developing this project to see how far I can take it. I want to improve its poseability and style, as well as add new features or accessories that people would find interesting. So if you don't like what you're seeing now, just come back and check in later. \nIf you'd rather design your own parts for the figure, keep in mind that the balls are all 10mm in diameter, while the pegs have a diameter of 3.8mm - making them the perfect fit for holes 4mm in size.\n\nInstructions:\nThe truth is almost every part can be printed with just two shells and zero infill, which will help cut down on the weight and keep costs lower. However, the hips and torso really do need to be printed with a little more substance - I'd recommend printing those parts at 100% solid. Meanwhile, all of your pegs should be printed with four complete shells to give them the necessary stability and integrity - especially considering they have no infill at all. There's simply no need for rafts or supports when printing these parts out either - that will just add extra time to each project. When assembling your action figure, I would expect things to mostly go according to plan without much trouble - but sometimes a needle-nose plier can help you grip those tiny parts more firmly. In particularly stubborn cases, C-clamps or a vise will give you the push needed to put those parts into their proper place. Finally, it never hurts to have some spare time on hand in case a part needs just a little fine-tuning with a needle file before fitting together correctly - or, in especially difficult circumstances, you can try gluing the pegs with some cyanoacrylate adhesives - although make sure only to use one half of it for holding so that there's room left for articulation afterwards. \nNumber and quantities:8 pegs 4 biceps, sockets2 forearms, thighs, calves, feet1 head, hips, torso, righthand, lefthand
