Leonhard, a skilled stonemason from Kornelimünster, transported the Annahaupt of Mainz to Düren in the year 1501. In 1543, the church suffered significant damage after being bombarded by the imperial troops of Charles V. During World War II, on November 16, 1944, a devastating air raid on Düren destroyed the Gothic Annakirche entirely. This is a reconstruction of the building's condition before its destruction.
