The ancient creature known as the Ankylosaurus roamed the earth during a time when dinosaurs still ruled. This hulking beast was easily recognizable due to its distinctive club-like tail and heavily armored body. Its name translates directly from Greek, meaning "fused lizard." This refers to the unique characteristic of the Ankylosaurus, where its vertebrae are fused together in order to protect it from predators. The Ankylosaurus was a herbivore, feeding on fruits and vegetation that grew in the lush forests and wetlands that covered much of North America during this time period.
