<oembed url="https://youtu.be/NCNwCtgqzKk"></oembed>

I created this animatronic eye for a friend doing a custom latex mask for cosplay. It uses standard 9g servo (tower pro, etc) to create a realistic moving eye ball effect.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

Prusa Mk2

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.2mm

Infill:

20%

Notes:

I angled the eye parts back about 30 degrees so the support would only go behind the front of the eye so it looks cleaner.

I used Simplify 3D with default settings for the Prusa Mk2.

Printed in Inland Egyptian Blue PLA

Post-Printing

I used an Arduino pro mini and wrote a simple program that sweeps the servo 30 degrees at random angles and delays. Then wired a small contact switch so the wearer can activate it, There's an LED behind the iris to make it glow, We filled the iris with an epoxy and painted it to match the contacts.

Category: Props
