Animatronic Eye
thingiverse
This animatronic eye can rotate in different directions when controlled by two potentiometers or via a webserver through USB connection. Check it out at http://makerjohn.com/animatronic-eye/. The major components include 2 potentiometers, 2 small servos, an Arduino, and an old sock. The eyeball is molded from Shapelock plastic. Hot glue is used to attach the eyeball and two servos. The bottom servo is mounted on wooden blocks. The servo wires are connected to power/ground and two PWM pins on the Arduino, while the potentiometers are linked to analog input pins with power and ground connected to the remaining pot pins. For printing parts, two shells were used with 30% fill. Attached are the Arduino source code and a Python webserver (containing script, HTML/JavaScript, etc.), which utilizes Twisted Matrix and pySerial for operation.
