Animated Picture Frame, Motorized Edition
cults3d
Well, it's more like an "icon stand" than a traditional picture frame, actually. Icons parade around the frame to draw attention to your preferred image. Check out this video of the prototype: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXC7k8weS-M&list=UUv_zm49u-RjnCJVwhUO-ecA. When it comes to creating icons, you can design and print your own or use lightweight materials such as heavy construction paper, balsa wood, cardboard stickers, etc., and attach them to the pins. For the prototype, my wife wanted "Lora & Greg & Lora", so I printed the letters in PLA and glued each one to the pins using thick cyanoacrylate and accelerator (hot glue also works well, just not too hot). Designed with Sketchup 8 and printed in PLA on a Makerbot Replicator 2 using Makerware 2.3.3.42.
