Anglo-Saxon/Viking seax knife with sheath

thingiverse

This is my first addition to Thingiverse; an anglosaxon inspired seax! While this one is not 100% historically accurate, I designed it to be reminiscent of the style carried by the Norse settlers in England. I may improve the artwork on the ornaments sometime The blade is 7½ inches long, 1½ inches wide, and a quarter inch thick. Handle is 4 inches long x 1½ x 1 inches. Total length is about 11½ inches The whole thing can be printed on an Ender 3, as long as you use the recommended positioning/orientation (how it appears in the file). You should NOT need to do any rafting or supports other than "touching build plate" for the knife and sheath, if your printer is any good. The sheath ornaments will require a raft, and support material to be generated "everywhere" (using Cura terminology) The text on the blade says "ᛒᚱᛂᚿᛐᛆᚦᚱ ᛋᛆᚴᛋᚿᛁᚠᚱ᛬" (prentathr saksnifr) which is old norseified Icelandic, in a mix of younger futhark and medieval runes. it means "printed seax knife". As its my first piece, id love to see pictures of anyone who makes it, so be sure to post pictures in the "makes" section for me! Skål!
