User Whatakuai has created a three-dimensional model of a tea cup with an innovative twist: it has an angled bottom that allows for the infusion of tea in one direction and stops it from flowing when tilted in the opposite direction, making it perfect for drinking loose-leaf tea without messy filters or strainers. This design is particularly convenient for tea enthusiasts who drink multiple cups throughout the day, eliminating the hassle of dealing with tea leaves and drips. A video showcasing this product would be hilarious, highlighting the frustration of trying to infuse tea while avoiding spills. Whatakuai's initial design was a nice rendering but not suitable for FDM printing due to several issues: the separate filter didn't hold in place, had an unusable bottom surface, and featured bad overhangs. To resolve these problems, I decided to merge both parts into one solid piece and smoothened the outer surface, leaving the inner surface coarse as it looked visually appealing and was easier to achieve. Additionally, I uploaded a version with manual support for users who cannot restrict support generation based on overhang angle in their slicer software. This modification allows the cup to print without supports but results in an imperfect surface finish due to the steep angle of the design. I also plan to decrease the hole size of the filter as my preferred teas are finely cut and tend to fall through the larger holes. For those interested in purchasing a real Tip Cup, I have included a link to the official website where you can find the product designed by Laura Bougdanos and Vesa Jaasko. The Tip Cup even won a design award, which is not surprising given its innovative features. To print this tea cup successfully, please note that the following settings work best: Printer Brand: Wanhao Printer Model: Wanhao Duplicator i3 V2 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.1mm Infill: 100% Material: Extrudr Green-Tec (or other materials that can withstand temperatures up to 120°C) When printing, make sure to use four walls with a 0.4mm nozzle for a watertight seal. It's also crucial to avoid normal infill patterns and focus on creating inner walls for the best results.
