Here is my Structured Light Scanning Rig accessory. I created this projector angle clamp using David 3D scanning software. This clamp securely attaches to a 1.5 inch by 1.5 inch right angle 1/8 inch aluminum rail or it can easily be mounted on a tripod. There's approximately 15 degrees of movement when using the locking straps and up to 90 degrees without them. The five point one millimeter holes are threaded with a 1/4 - 20 thread. I highly recommend printing at least three perimeter shells for accurate threading. I printed the top plate in multiple settings using Simplify 3D. The first five millimeters were printed at .1 mm layer thickness and 30% infill, followed by six millimeters at the same layer height but 50% infill, and finally thirteen millimeters with a one hundred percent solid infill. It took more than nine hours to complete the print job, and I may have overdone it a bit. Nevertheless, I'm convinced that's what works best for me as a skilled machinist. This design is actually based on a 5 inch Sine Plate used in various precision measurement applications. By utilizing the sine function with a constant factor of two inches, you can calculate the exact angle you require. For example, if you need an angle of 30 degrees, simply apply the sine function and multiply it by 2 inches - that gives you 1 inch in decimal notation. Alternatively, you can express this calculation using metric units: sine(30) multiplied by fifty point eight millimeters equals twenty five point four millimeters. This means that a shim, possibly a gage block or a pin, should be inserted under the raised end of the top plate with six millimeter radius to set the desired angle accurately.
