Angle, Elephant and Donkey

Angle, Elephant and Donkey

Commissioned sculpture based upon a digital painting by TV artist Ryan Cordin, optimized for SLA printing or in Frosted Ultra Detail at shapeways. I see obvious political symbolism in this piece. The angle appears to be preparing to strike down the elephant, but could also be seen as proclaiming victory after a terrible fight. Perhaps both scenarios are unfolding simultaneously. It's clear that the angle and the elephant have been through a fierce battle, emerging victorious. One thing is certain: the elephant and donkey are firmly grounded in stone, while the angel represents justice. I opted for an asymmetrical pose for the angel's wings to give the sculpture a more dynamic feel. Typically, angel wings are depicted as perfectly symmetrical, which can look unnatural. I envisioned the angle using her wings expressively, along with her arms, when moving around on the ground. The way the light focuses onto the angel's body creates a beautiful glowing effect. The hollow base is approximately 1.2 mm thick to minimize material usage.
