Angel/Demon Puzzle
myminifactory
This Angel/Demon Puzzle is my entry for the MakeAnything Puzzle Design Challenge! The puzzle is based on M.C. Escher's "Circle Limit IV" mosaic, where angels and demons tessellate hyperbolic space. I reprojected the motif to planar Euclidean space and extracted a hexagonal tesselating unit. By carefully splitting the unit tile, an angel or demon can be composed simply by reordering the pieces. To complete the model, I included a tray to hold the pieces, with a hole at the back to push them out if they fit too tight. The gap between parts is about 0.4mm, which should be suitable for most printers.
