Around the arena, several of the seventy-nine preserved stone blocks can be found, part of the commemorative inscription for the renovation of the amphitheater carried out in the year 221, when Emperor Heliogabalus was in power, who crowned the railing of the podium. Some of these blocks contain one to three letters, many of which were intentionally erased since, after the emperor's death, his memory was condemned to oblivion (damnatio memoriae).
