I couldn't find a reliable source for 10mm aluminum rod/tube in the USA. I also wasn't willing to pay outrageous prices for Igus 10mm polymer bushings or play the three months waiting game for parts from China. So, I decided to design my own components that could use readily available parts. I got everything at the local Lowe's store. I'm sure Home Depot and other similar stores have equivalent products. I started with Beezen's excellent "Hypercube Nut Remix" Y Carriage for LM8UU Y (8mm Y Rails) uploaded on Thingiverse. His profile page: https://www.thingiverse.com/Beezen/about Hypercube Nut Remix: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2814140 After modifying the Y Carriage using TinkerCAD, I also made tubes to fit the nylon bushings I used in place of an LM8UU, and created adapters to fit in the space of an LM8LUU. Locally sourced parts were: 3/8" Aluminum rod - 3ft: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Steelworks-3-ft-x-3-8-in-Aluminum-Metal-Round/3053651 1/2" X 3/8" X 5/8" Nylon Bushings: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hillman-1-2-in-x-3-8-in-x-5-8-in-Nylon-Spacers/3012447 .562" x .375" x 1/2" Nylon Bushings (could not find on Lowe's website but trust me, they have them): https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/hillman-natural-nylon-spacers-562-in-outer-dia-x-375-in-inner-dia-x-1-2-in-length You will need to adjust scaling and flowrate until you're satisfied with the fit and feel of the bushings on the new aluminum X Rods. Please post any issues or additions you may have!
