How to Replace the Stepper Driver in an Anet Board, It's Easy WARNING You Make Modifications at Your Own Risk. I Am Not Responsible for Any Damage Resulting from the Inability of the Assembler. LAST UPDATE 15.08.2018 18:30 GMT: Please See New Picture, Some Mistake in Previous Version. Look for Datasheet, Which Is 11pin on Chip. No Need to Change Step/MM. NOTE TMC2208 Runs in Legacy Mode in This Mod. Modification Also for Other PCB with Integrated A4988. Element Designations May Be Different. What You Need? - TMC2208 Driver Chip - 22nF Ceramic Capacitor - 24k Resistor (to Set VRef Around 1V) - Good Heatsink Need to Do 1. Replace A4988 with TMC2208 in the Same Direction. 2. Cut Patch to Pin 11. 3. Replace C1 with 22nF (Signed C1 in X Axis). 4. Replace R9 with Around 24k (Signed R9 in X Axis). 5. Install a Heat Sink on the TMC2208 Chip; It Must Adhere Well. 1V Vref Is for 0.75A Stepper Motor (Default in Anet Printer). If You Have Different Motor, You Can Calculate Using This Formula, Up to 1.2A Max: Vref = (Irms * 2.5V) / 1.77A Irms = Current of Your Motor Example When Irms = 0.75A: Vref = (0.75A * 2.5V)/1.77A = 1.875 / 1.77 = 1.059V Source: http://blog.trinamic.com/2018/04/15/how-to-replace-an-allegro-a4988-with-the-tmc2208/ https://learn.watterott.com/silentstepstick/faq/
