This is a Z motor mount designed to keep the smooth rod off the motor when using dampers for vibration control. For those who are unfamiliar, a damper fits between the frame and motor, serving two main purposes. First, it significantly reduces the motor's noise level. Second, by separating the motor from the frame, it minimizes the risk of resonance occurring. Resonance can lead to severe vibrations that violently shake the printer. When the rod rests on the damper, two issues arise. Firstly, the damper is bypassed, diminishing its effectiveness. Secondly, the added weight can gradually stretch the damper out over time. The mount also includes a cap to prevent the M3 nut from falling out during installation, ensuring a secure and hassle-free setup process.
