A common challenge faced by individuals who have recently assembled an Anet-A8 is achieving consistent alignment of the two Z-axis steppers, particularly since the X-idler side tends to bind as it moves up and down. To address this issue, two tools can be employed for alignment and calibration checks. With steppers disabled, a stand (tool 2) can be used to set both Z-screws at the same height from the base with the X-bearing bars aligned. This serves as the starting point before attempting any other calibration procedures. Once this initial step is complete, a bridge along with a dial gauge ([thing:1935249][1]) can be utilized to verify that the bed/Y-bearings are level relative to the Z-bearings on each side. Due to the bridge's design, both bed levelling and Y-bearing positioning will impact readings (60/40 biased towards bearings), necessitating identical settings for precision. Achieving perfection requires dial-gauge readings with less than 0.5mm variation between sides; however, relying on bed-leveling for final adjustments is still essential.
