Significantly boost the rigidity of the Z axis setup. Tie the leadscrew together with the bearing rod at the top using a ball bearing. Secure the bearing rod in place with tight-fitting bearings that prevent the rods from moving. A threaded rod between the two top mounts eliminates the Anet A8 cross bar flex and acts as a corner brace with the uprights. The Z Motor housings are now single pieces, featuring a screw-down point on the outer edge for fastening to a base board. The top mounts come equipped with a 6.8mm diameter hole, allowing for tapping of an M8 thread for the threaded bar tie rod, providing 8mm clearance through to the other side. Instructions for assembly: 1. After printing, press the bearing into place (it should fit snugly). 2. Use an M8 tap to tap the tie rod hole from the washer's flat side. 3. Fit the Z bearing rods into the top blocks until they are fully seated. This process is best done on a flat wooden surface and requires tapping the rod in until it stops moving. 4. Replace the Z motor housings, cleaning out the bearing rod hole before fitting as this also provides a good fit for the bearing rod. 5. Fit the top mounts with the bearing rods, guiding the lower end of the bearing rod into the Z motor mount and the top of the leadscrew into the ball bearing. 6. Secure the top mounts down using the original M3 screws. 7. Use the Z motor housing screw-down points to fasten the A8 to the baseboard. 8. Re-level your bed & X Axis. 9. Enjoy a significant reduction in Z banding. This setup may seem like a lot of work, but it's actually only a 30-minute job once the parts are printed.
