Anet A8 Y Belt Tensioner Improved
thingiverse
Hi. I recently acquired my Anet and began printing upgrades, including a belt tensioner. Four identical ones were printed from available designs, but they all failed within a few prints. The last one didn't even fit the Anet A8, despite being designed for it. So, I created my own from scratch based on the original design. A common issue with other belt tensioners is the pressure angle. In my initial test, I made the same mistake. As the belt sits above the four square holes, the applied tension creates a 15-degree angle, which causes them to break at the knee. To fix this, I added a base that eliminates almost all of this tension. However, this belt tensioner requires the frame brace, available here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1430727. Additionally, two end caps from this model are needed: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1908554. The screws distribute pressure evenly across both ends. This design has already printed over 36 hours without any issues.
