Anet A8 Y-Axis Middle Support
thingiverse
The lengthy unsupported span of threaded rods in the middle of my A8 really bothered me. I came up with this straightforward support to complete the bottom of the printer and add some stiffness to the threaded rods. It features a hex pattern that matches front/rear supports found on here by other users. Although it may not make much of a difference, it looks great and might lend some extra stability to the Y axis. Note that it doesn't touch whatever surface your printer rests on; instead, it is intended to clamp onto the Anet frame via the nuts and support the threaded rods. My printer is called "Archimedes," which is why I included the text. The STL file I uploaded does not contain this information. The support is split in two so each half will fit on the A8 build platform at a 45-degree angle. Print the two halves one at a time, flat on their bottom with no supports and 30% hex infill. Install as shown and tighten the nuts pretty securely. I used Solidworks for the design and Simplify3D to slice the model.
