I made an X motor mount for my Anet A8 printer that shrinks its width by 2.5cm, bringing it down to 48cm from the original 50.5cm. This modification allows me to fit my printer comfortably on a shelf. Before installing this new mount, you'll need to swap out the motor screws with M3x15 ones in place of the standard M3x20 screws. These screws are hidden behind the Z-axis bearing and must be inserted into their designated pockets to avoid any collisions with the bearing. As a result, you will have to disassemble the entire printer before you can unscrew the motors. Additionally, you'll need to trim the bottom part of the frame slightly to prevent the motor from colliding with it when the Z-axis is lowered. Refer to the pictures for guidance; note that you don't necessarily need to cut as much as I did - a 2.5cm x 2.5cm square should suffice. The printing process took around 2.5-3 hours on standard settings, and the resulting mount is quite hard and stiff, so no additional reinforcement is required. You can now install this new mount without any further modifications, and your printer will be ready to use. Please note that the pictures shown are from an earlier version of the design, but the STL file has been updated with a fix - specifically, the motor pulley was colliding with the plastic.
