I'm creating a custom small switch housing for detecting when the filament runs out or breaks. The switch I'm using is a 12x12x7 mm model, similar to this one: https://tinyurl.com/y75vxslr. To pause the print when the switch is activated, I'm utilizing the Octoprint-Filament-Reloaded plugin from GitHub at https://github.com/kontakt/Octoprint-Filament-Reloaded. The housing attaches to the X Carriage upper left bearing via a baseplate, but it only requires three screws. One of the original screws on the bearing is removed and not used, as the longer 18mm screws fit perfectly instead. To secure the housing's front (lid), I'm using four M2.5 screws from the original Anet building kit. When inserting a new filament, pressing the switch helps make it easier to push through the housing. Once the switch is passed, the filament glides smoothly through the housing.
