Anet A8 Titan Aero carriage & fan duct
thingiverse
I modified this great extruder carriage from [ade2](https://www.thingiverse.com/ade2) to fit my Anet A8. I really like the way you can see the nozzle without lots of stuff in the way. The sensor is also nice and close to the nozzle, making it easy to get access to the hobbed gear if it gets clogged or flexible filament gets kinked. I made some tweaks to the design. I changed the rods of the X axis so they are the distance apart as the stock Anet A8 X axis. I am using a [Chinese clone of the E3D Titan Aero extruder](https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Titan-Aero-V6-hotend-extruder-full-kit-free-shipping/1654223_32815903993.html) which had a slightly larger pancake stepper motor than the e3d one. I wasn't a fan of the way the sensor was fixed to the main body with zip ties. I think that the induction sensor and the nozzle should be as rigid as possible. So I used screws. What I am a big fan of however is threaded brass inserts which I used four M3x4x4 variaty ([which you can get 50 for £2](https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M3-M4-Press-In-Brass-Copper-Inserts-Embedded-Knurl-Threaded-Nut-Part-for-Plastic/401319840247?var=670931579541&hash=item5d7086c9f7:m:mJ2Tlx-Z848LJnTwtENcAsg)). You use a soldering iron to heat up the insert and when hot it will easily melt into the hole leaving a threaded hole that will be strong and will not wear out easily, like if you thread directly into the ABS Plastic. (I also included a stl of the carriage which doesn't use threaded inserts and instead has the holes sized correctly in the print for screwing M3 screws directly into the plastic, if you don't like the idea of buying inserts.) The downside of this design is that you lose 15mm from your Y axis. Unless of course you create a new Y axis mount https://youtu.be/EngZat4dxLQ
