Anet A8 Spool holder - reuse Anet parts

myminifactory

I need a spool holder for my Anet A8 printer, with the goal of reusing the threaded rod and four nuts from the original spool holder. I want to make sure that the length between the display backcover and frontpanel is about 23.5mm, and the frontpanel height is around 80mm - this should be the standard size. It's also compatible with "Anet A8 Brackets to Reduce X-Axis Motion" by Leo_N: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1872162, but it's not required. There are two versions of the holder available - a plain one and a chamfered one. I think the chamfered one is more stable than the plain one. The holder is pretty solid and only needs about 15g of filament (PLA) each. You'll need to print the holder (plain or chamfered) twice. I also recommend printing the second holder in mirror, as the design is unidirectional but the first layer that sticks on the printbed always differs from the last layer. You should also use a spool adapter that fits on an 8mm threaded rod like this one: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:767317. Update: I changed my direct drive extrude to bowden setup, so I no longer use this spool holder. However, I've added the 123D Design files, so you can customize this holder as you see fit - in respect of the CC License on the left hand, you're free to remix this spool holder however you like.
