Anet A8 Spool Holder & Brace
thingiverse
I really liked the look of this spool holder and immediately printed it out.\nSomething that caught my attention upon installation was the slot to load the spool axle, which was angled rearward and a bit shallow for my liking. So I rotated that feature to vertical and lowered the bottom of the slot by a couple of mm.\nAlso, I changed up the chamfers to radii and added a locator to lock against the upper frame to take some of the load off the acrylic controller cover.\nFinally, I added bosses on the back side to accept a newly designed brace. This brace stabilizes one side with the other by keeping them 100mm apart from the inside face.\nThe original design is a remix of another remix found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2162266\nPrint Settings:\nPrinter: Anet A8\nRafts: No\nSupports: No\nResolution: .2mm\nInfill: 20%\nNotes: 3 wall layers, 6 top and bottom layers, 225C hot end, 60C print bed\nPost-Printing:\nThe assembly is a nice pressure fit with .1mm clearance designed between parts. Mine required a pair of pliers to press the joints together.\nEdit 4-4-2017: I removed the brace STL due to it being too wide. It should have been 100mm between faces, not 150. A modified brace will be reposted soon.\nEdit 4-5-2017: A new brace (A) STL was uploaded. All parts clear spool diameters and ribbon connector on the back of the controller display.\nThis has become part of a whole filament holding no-tool system, combining this spool holder with this axle adapter http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2228643
